[SI-LIST] Re: Extracting waveguide s-parameter on anisotropic material

HFSS is quite capable of extracting coplanar waveguides.
And... it can use anisotropic materials.
Try solving your problem with the standard material definitions... This
will tell you if you set up the problem correctly... Then, run the same
simulation again with new material properties...
Your local Application Engineer should be able to set up an example...
The real trick is defining the true anisotropic properties of a material
correctly... including all three vectors and DeBye losses characteristics.
Maybe a good question is do you really need / want anisotropic materials

Subject: [SI-LIST] Re: Extracting waveguide s-parameter on anisotropic
material
Hi Guys
You probably know that Agilent, who was teamed with Ansoft on the HFSS
development a few years ago dropped their intrest and let Ansoft have HFSS
entirely.
Recently I heard that Agilent has
developed a new 3 D solver for intgration with ADS.
Give them a call.

structure? Now I need to extract one coplanar waveguide s-parameter with
anisotropic material structure. It seems that the current EDA tools can not
implement such kind of work, even if Ansoft HFSS provide anisotropic
material definition, but I fail to extract s-parameters, I suspect the
feature of HFSS is useless. Maybe I am wrong with HFSS. Any suggestion will
be appreciated.
