[SI-LIST] Re: SSO pushout

Another way of looking at it. SSO would result in more droop/rise on =
the power/gnd rails. =20
Now if the driver switches high (say), the droop on the power rail would =
cause the signals at the=20
output of the cmos to have a step (sort of a shoulder). Now the =
inductance/capacitance of the package
cleans it up (in most cases) and the resultant is beautiful looking =
rising edge - only slower.

I hope this makes sense, if not, let me know and I will try and fax you =
a picture..

Muhammad

Subject: [SI-LIST] SSO pushout

Hello:

I was reading some SI paper that says:

" SSO pushout is a result of multiple drivers
switching simultaneously. It impacts signal integrity
through adding extra delay to the propagating signal"

I understand that we'll have more current in the
return path due to simultaneous switching that may
cause ground/plane bounce, but couldn't relate that to
delay.

Can someone explain this delay, as the text doesn't
explain that ?

Thanks;
-Lin
