[SI-LIST] Patch antenna

Hi all,
With regard to my previous message, I need to design a microstrip
patch antenna with broadband characteristics in the 5 - 6 GHz range,
i.e. IEEE802.11a range.
So far, I have had responses saying that it is not a good idea
feeding the antenna using a quarter wave matching, since this
provides a narrow bandwidth.
I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on patterns, designs and
dimensions that could be used for the IEEE802.11a range. The patch
could not be larger than 5cm x 5cm, and the permittivity and
substrate height can be any suitable values.
In addition, I am currently working on a bowtie antenna. Any
suggestions on the dimensions would be good.
Finally, I am aware of the rectangular patch formulae for determining
the length and width of a patch. Are there formulae for all types of
patterns (bowtie, triangular, rhombic etc.,)
Thanks in advance.
Neil.
