Thanks dave and others,
Bainbridge make foamboard "Bevel Accents" which are already pre-wrapped with
paper but you need to overmat those with ordinary board to cover the corner
joins which just seems to make more work (and expense).
I will give your technique a try at some point but for the time being I will go
for the 8 ply board as it seems it will be a lot less work.
