I made a "cabinet" by constructing two rectangular
frames out of 1 x 2 inch wood to serve as the top a
bottom ends of the enclosure. Then I cut a clear
shower curtain to create the body of the cabinet. The
curtain was stapled around 3 sides of the perimeter of
each end frame, leaving a flap to open and close.
Velcro was used on the remaining side of each frame
and as a closure where the shower curtain overlaps
itself. I covered each end with a piece cut from a
furnace filter that I staple-gunned to the frames. The
whole thing hangs by some picture wire at the top from
a right angle brace that I have mounted high on the
wall, and I ran some pieces of wire across the top
frame to hang my negative strips from. When not in
use, the whole thing can be taken off the wall hook
and loosely rolled up to stash away. I need to do that
as I really don't have space in my small darkroom for
a permanent drying cabinet.

It's crude but it works. I had been hanging me negs in
a rather dusty closet and realized quickly that that
was no good. I modelled it on the commercial film
dryers that I've seen that have a hanging clear bag w/
a zipper. There's no heating element or fan in mine of
course, so the film takes a while to dry. But the air
circulates well through it, and my negatives are
relatively dust-free.

The hardest part in the construction was cutting the
shower curtain evenly, and getting the velcro strips
in the right place. You can make it long enough to
accomodate 35mm strips as I did.

Now, three years on, the velcro is starting to pull
away from the shower curtain where it had been stuck.
I'll have to make a new one soon.
