Subject: [pure-silver] Entry into Large Format
Well, some 23 years after I first really wanted a LF
camera, I finally made that leap. I've long realized that
one of my weaknesses as always been a rush to snap the
shot with my trusty Nikon FG. I was hoping that this
would force me to slow down and pay more attention to
whole vision thing (to quote our former leader, George
XLI)
I think you are doing quite well. I like your 35mm work
also. Polaroid is rather limiting, I think some of the
virtues of LF are not readily discernable with it although
it is allowing you to do some work.
You don't need much room for LF, even for rather large
films. I work with up to 8x10 in a kitchen measuring less
than 7x9 feet. There are some inconveniences, I can't leave
everything set up permanently, but I can work and have a 4x5
enlarger (Omega D2v) in it.
Keep at it, there is a sort of Zen thing about LF.
