Allan, your documentation here is, to put it kindly, simply too clever for
words. Living as I do in China, I can hardly read let alone write Chinese so,
technically, I guess this makes me illiterate. However, I'm sure that its not
going to get in the way of me articulating myself in other ways.
In an ealier post I pointed out an error message that was, up until now, my
constant companion - regarding the html.php plugin. Have just now managed to
sort it out - no thanks to the lack of suitable documentation here and
examples that are off-key.
And no, I'm not a programmer. You may have been working on this app for 7
years, I've been bumbling on with it for just on a week now. You may ask why?
I'll get to that shortly.
While here, I'm not looking for a dose of "instant coffee". Prefer brewing my
own. However, it would be helpful if there was a decent "receipe book" (as in
documentation or help me's) that would enable one get the best out of a
particular brew.
At the end of the DOC.RTF you end with: "It's been almost four years now since
the initial release of the primitive PHPMail (presuming this was written in
2000, that would now make this 7 years). I've enjoyed developing this
application, and look forward to working with other programmers now to
increase its functionality and usability".
As in helping out - you and your documenation, in my view, miss out on 3 key
items that would, could and should make this a great app - templated forms,
structured work flow and functionality. These items are beyond compare on
anything else out there is this particular software category. Your USP, as
they say. Unfortunately the documention found here cloaks this app in
something else bounding on the cryptic and archane. The "Lord of the Rings" is
Tolkien's preserve not open-source programming.
BTW, when do you intend updating DOC.RTF. Sort of gather that the RTF in the
tile is possible shorthand for RTFM. The (c) mark there still reads 2000 with
constant references to PHP3. Just wondering?
Further, did you ever get to figure out why African swallows fly south in the
winter? Go figure ...
