That doesn't surprise me. Just about everything having to do
with this "Windows Live" is crappy.
Sometimes I get these types of messages through programs that
need to access the net and I need to sort of "jump start" the
connection (common on broadband). Have you tried having a
browser window open during this time? That works for me with
these other types of programs. Right before you try to install
it, go to a website (or check for email in OE), and then
immediately try to install the program. You need to "tell it"
that you are indeed connected.

I received this email from MS
--------------------------------------------------------------------
As a valued customer, we want to provide advanced notice that
as of June 30,
2008, Microsoft is disabling the DAV protocol and you will no
longer be able
to access your Hotmail Inbox via Outlook Express. As an
alternative, we
recommend that you download Windows Live Mail, a free desktop
e-mail client
that has the familiarity of Outlook Express and much more. This
next
generation of free e-mail software will allow you to easily
manage multiple
e-mail accounts-including Windows Live Hotmail, plus other
e-mail accounts
that support POP3/IMAP. Better yet, Windows Live Mail
integrates well with
other Windows Live services, and downloads in minutes. After
you provide
your user name and password, you will automatically be linked
to your
Hotmail account, providing continued access to your email and
contacts.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have downloaded the program they recommend but when I click
to install it
says I need to be connected to the internet. I have cable and
have no
trouble accessing the internet. I downloaded the file again and
have the
same problem. I even turned off the firewall and I still get
the same
message.
It says "to install Windows Live programs you must be online".
I am but it
doesn't seem to realize that.
Anyone have this problem besides me?
