I think Peter uses one, at least he sounded like he did.
Ok, I remember seeing something called "Titan" that was being
installed, but where is it??? And, why is the "Guide Plus"
button on the TV control panel unclickable? I found the
TitanTV folder under C:\ATI\SUPPORT\9-14_mmc_uci. Apparently
it IS installed because I clicked the setup.exe in the folder
and it said to choose to repair or uninstall. I clicked repair
and it seemed to "do its thing" and said it was repaired. But
where is it and how do I access it?
Thanks Ben,

Hi Clint,
I think I'm the only one running ATI AIW ... maybe not. I'm
down to one
poor little 8500 card. I had 3 at one time including a 9800
but 2 have
failed. I have never had success installing anything newer
then the version
9.02 Multimedia center with the older cards. At least it says
it's 9.02.
ATI version numbers are incredibly confusing to me.
The newer ATI TV cards don't use Gemstar. They switched to
TitanTV. That
may be one your problems.
As to the dialog box to set up Gemstar.... I get that where I
am. My local
cable has 3 different configurations. I'm surprised Gemstar is
still in
business. I went for several months one time without an update
being
available from them for my area code.
I'd go back to a known good set of drivers and software and
stay away from
anything new.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

This is for those of you using Gemstar Guide Plus with ATI
All-In-Wonder video cards or ATI TV Tuner cards, and anyone
using the latest version of the MultiMedia Center. I
reformatted and installed SP3 for XP (no problems so far that I
can see).
First off, the latest version 9.13 of the MultiMedia Center (TV
Tuner) is appalling. I'm not surprised, those jerks remove
more and more features with each version. Still the "noise
reduction" area is gone. Now, they've removed the Tint/Hue
controls, does anyone know of any hack for that? And there is
no more channel labeling (which MIGHT be due to Gemstar).....
When I installed the Gemstar software I was asked a question I
have never seen before in dozens of installations. See the
screenshot here:
http://www.orpheuscomputing.com/images/Gemstar.png
Now what is stupid, is NONE of those 3 are correct for this
area! But after the third try I selected the 2nd one and it
gave the correct channel number with the network.
But every time I open up Gemstar, it says "No TV tuner" in the
TV display box! I have to FIRST open the TV Tuner, THEN open
Gemstar for it to display the TV! Also, the Guide Plus button
on the MMC TV controls is no longer clickable!
It gets even more ridiculous. Just like on my last HD, the
mute button has problems! But that only started AFTER I had
that Codec problem I posted something about. How in the hell
can that STILL be going on, with a new HD, new install, and
different software with NONE of the former Codecs
installed????????? Now again, this is on a NEW HD, plus a
newer version of the software!! But this time when I click the
mute button, the left speaker keeps playing!! WHUT????? Plus
there is a huge audio echo at all times! Furthermore, the
"Line-In" slider control does nothing! It was set to 0, all
the way down. I put it all the way up, and nothing changes!
Every time in the past when I installed the software, it asks
you to select the audio source from a drop down and listen for
the TV audio, then when you hear it that's the correct option
in the drop down menu. It's always been "Line In" in the past,
and that whole setup area during installation was gone! More
confusion......when the Line-In slider is all the way up, that
is what is causing the echo!
There is also "Live" always displayed at the bottom of the TV
Tuner controls, which in the past meant that it was in some
kind of "pause live TV" mode. Which it is, you can pause live
TV which seems like it's not in the right normal TV viewing
mode. If I move the slider controls around I notice it has
been recording because I can go back in time, but, I can't find
out where it's recording to!! It's not where I told it to
record! Huh??? And when I try and check the box "Go to live
TV" it won't! I tried to record something with one-touch
record (which saves it to a video file), and as I suspected I
got the TV-on-demand warning about "video not being preserved"
(but it recorded it ok). So it appears to be stuck in
TV-on-demand mode with no way of getting out if it!!
So far we have no more Tint/Hue controls, no channel network
labeling, Gemstar not working, mute button screwed up, line-in
not working, stuck in TV-on-demand mode, and the echo when
line-in is max'd. Finally, closed captioning no longer works!
It's checked to display on mute, and it does nothing.
Is anyone else having these problems? I'd hate to have to go
back to an older version of the MMC because this newer version
is no doubt better for SP3 (since they just released v9.13 a
couple of weeks ago), but there are also a new feature or two
in this newer version in the recording TV area.
Thank you!
On the good side, the latest ATI Catalyst drivers appear to be
fine on SP3, and they have a lot more features and options than
previous versions. They have some great custom adjustments for
video that I've never seen before and they even work when
playing back video files, (like brightness, saturation, *tint,
gamma), and best yet, nothing has to be running in the
background for any of the options to always be working.
There's also Home Theater viewing modes, and a lot for gaming,
aliasing, anti-aliasing, etc., where they give you on-the-fly
adjustment examples that show you what they do. *At least with
that, you essentially get back the tint controls when watching
TV because these adjustments also work with TV.
