Hi John:

Agree, my point was that often those who have serious hearing impairments
can only hear one type of speech synthesizer, that being the clearest. But
those without hearing loss do not always hear a big difference.

I am an advocate of Braille being part of a screen reading system, sorry if
my first message indicated that Braille wasn't paramount.

Penny,

I am deaf-blind and do not understand speech at all. From my perspective,
braille support should be a basic requirement of any screen reader. I am
also a programmer and use braille for coding. This is another reason why
braille support should be a basic requirement.

I have a mac and actually like it better than Windows, but Apple's
VoiceOver is a big disappointment, because it does not include braille
support.
