This topic has definitely come up in the past - search the archives.
IIRC, we all agreed the universally optimal ratio is 42 databases per
DBA ;-)

Does anyone any have any formula /guidelines/reference for a
measurement to evaluate 'n' number of DBAs needed to support x/y
development and production databases.
