Every view is needed, every view is great.
If a view is lost, God gets quite irate.
Every view is good,
Every view is needed in your neighborhood.
(from the movie "Meaning of Life", by Monty Python)
Views are created by running $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catalog.
You can drop the invalid ones and re-run catalog and catproc.
When you're done, run utlrp.sql, also from the same directory.

Subject: X_$ Views
All-
I am running 9.2.0.5 on AIX 5.3 currently. I plan to upgrade to
10.1.0.2 but having some concerns. I was wondering if others have heard
of this or experienced it. I queried the existing DB to see the list of
INVALID objects and found several V_$ views are INVALID. They are owned
by SYS. I Googled on these and found that in some places people said
that the views are not necessary and they will be recreated when I
upgrade. I logged a TAR yesterday and they haven't responded yet. I
tried to upgrade to 10g two weeks ago with this DB but it failed cuz if
invalid SYS views.
Are these views needed? Are they created by outside vendor code?
Anyone know any more?
LeRoy
