You are right, John King did do an excellent presentation on this topic - 
"Analyze That! Using Oracle 8i Analytic Functions" at IOUG-A Live! 2001.  If 
you are an IOUG-A member, you can probably download a copy of John's paper from 
www.ioug.org.  Otherwise, you might ask around to see if someone has a 
proceedings CD that you can borrow.

I think I learned a lot more from couple of presentations by John King on these 
features ... I sure don't know where I picked them from ... maybe 2000/1/2 
Openworld?? They were written for 8i version. Tom Kyte has some review in his 
books and his presentations too.
