ifconfig should definitely be able to delete the interface if asked for 
it. But pppdial or whatever user application is used to set up the PPP 
interface should have an option to do that, too - because it's more 
user friendly if you can do that with the same tool.

But disagreeing with Philippe, ifconfig is about creating/deleting 
interfaces as well. At least it should be able to do so, even if the 
net_stack doesn't _need_ it for that. I am often using ifconfig to do 
that :)
