Did you try bedrivertalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ?
Maybe you already looked at
http://cvsweb.netbsd.org/bsdweb.cgi/src/sys/dev/ic/rtl81x9*.* files ? Even if
you don't know netbsd it can help to get the thing working. Plus there is
comments which might help to understand. This RTL8139 chip seems to weird
sometimes.
