Ping localhost on my machine takes me to KDL every time...

Well, have you got another machine?
Can you try setting up a serial connection to view the debug output?
Do you get any build errors warnings? If so can you post them here :)

Basically if you can send us details of where it goes into KDL and what was
happening at the time...
