Hello,

Although I'm not a formal member of the openbeos media kit team, I am inter=
ested in the success of this team and especially in the design of the new=
 codec API.  I know that some members of the team have their hands tied t=
o some extent because of NDAs.  Since it seemed that this was preventing =
the discussion from beginning to some extent I have tried to get things r=
olling with some pages on the bebits wiki.

I have not made any specific API proposal yet, and I think I am not yet pre=
pared to do so.  I have however gathered some information on the problem =
and existing solutions.  This information is by no means complete.  I wou=
ld especially like input from people who have worked with implementing co=
decs on other platforms.  I also have some decoding/encoding software tha=
t I have to go through myself in order to glean a coherent API.

I would like to invite anyone who is interested to read/contribute to pleas=
