Hello Joachim and all,
thanks for this summary, it was probably quite daunting to wade through the
mass of past mails on this subject. :-)
I would also like to express that I feel very honored that my set received
the highest rating. Thanks everyone.
The "zuMi" and "McClintock" sets have also received a very high rating, on
par with "Honey". So the conclusion I draw from that is that there is a
strong preference for sticking close to the BeOS icons. Honey for me goes
into the more naturalistic and also "modern" direction. So what I will try to
do is to keep this in mind when designing new icons (and improving the
existing ones). Also some people thought my icons were too "cartoony". So I
will try to not go in that direction. I will also try to pick up some nice
ideas from the other sets. For example, I will try to give more detail to the
hard drive icon, and pick up on the image icon in the Alba set, which I think
is nicer than the "purple splash of color on sheet of paper".
Overall, I must stress again, how happy I am about the contest, all the
contributions, sets as well as help with the web page and input in
discussions. I had no Internet connection for the past couple of weeks, but
now I should be more responsive again. :-)
One last thing: Sorry about the not so smooth transition to the new vector
icons in Haiku, I will try to iron out the bugs in the comming days.
Best regards,
-Stephan
