[openbeos] Compiling on Linux

Before I start attempting it I thought I would ask the question...
If I get the code to compile with the latest and greatest gcc version on
Linux will I produce a Haiku system that will work?
Obviously I wouldn't be able to run any BeOS binaries but will the
system get anywhere running programs compiled with the same compiler?
