You may want to have a look at SampleStudio. It's an open source wave
audio editor.
It was once a commercial project, but its developer Xentronix sold the
source code to the community (in a simmilar way as Blender). Due
trademark reasons the name SampleStudio must not be used, but you can
find the source code under http://developer.berlios.de/projects/beae/
