Hello bs,

To try out Haiku software, you need to first install BeOS. You can
download it for free at http://www.bebits.com/app/2680

I'am using BeOS Max Editon V 3.0

After you install BeOS you can try some parts of Haiku. The easiest
way is to try the "jam packages" which are on the bottom of this
page: http://haiku-os.org/factory/ Many of these are drivers for
video cards or sound cards. There is also a networking kit package
and a translation kit package.

and again i'am using nvdia, sound ac97, rtl8139 driver, and it work :)

The other way to try parts is to download the "distro", which is at
http://haiku-os.org/factory/OBOS-Distro-x86.tgz This has many
programs in it from Haiku. Some work very well (like StyledEdit)
and others are not finished yet. It may be fun for you to try out
these programs. Enjoy!

And problem is...
when I downloaded http://haiku-os.org/factory/OBOS-Distro-x86.tgz then
and "_make_same_crazy_experiment_" unpack them to the direktory beos,
and then _boom_boom_boom_ my BeOS cannot boot anymore !!!!
you know guys, experience is the best teacher.
and i never do that again...

like helmar says "Be patient" until Haiku is getting ready..
