Yes of course I was only talking GUIs.
But for GUIs what I said would be nice. Maybe some kind of
apparmor<http://www.novell.com/linux/security/apparmor/>-like
thing with profiles for all standard applications and a default for unknown
applications with access to no files.
Then when an application tries to access a file it doesn't have access to
the user is presented with a not too disturbing popup asking the user to
grant/not grant access once/from now on to that file. Wouldn't that be cool?

Which are really just GUI versions of sudo. I think we'll need the GUI
version for GUI apps and good old CLI sudo for the command line.
