yes, but I'm thinking in the long term too: maybe R2/R3 will
break/reduce binary compatibility :)

I supposed it was something like this...
So, even if we don't have applications for scanning and connecting
to video-cameras now, wouldn't it be good to have some kind of
specifications (i.e.: function calls) for writing those kind of
drivers, to avoid the feared (at least by me :) fragmentation?
otherwise, the risk is to have 2-3 different standards in the
long term...
