Sorry, but you make me continue this thread.
Why NT is not a micro-kernel...
A micro-kernel has only the most important things running in kernel
space, that is dispatching, message passing and low-level I/O support
and protection.
Now NT also has the so-called managers (object manager, memory manager,
security manager, ...), networking, the I/O system and even the Win32
subsystem in kernel mode.

What makes you think that Windows is intricate? Have you ever seen the
code? I don't think so. I hate to tell you this, but the NT kernel
IS
a microkernel, and NT is also highly modular.
