Hi there,
thanks to the hint from Stefano, I was finally able to track down bug
#724.
The reason I'm posting this here is that this breaks on-disk
compatibility for our BFS with previous versions of our BFS - if and
only if you have any files on your disk with non-ASCII characters in
their name that makes it impossible to differentiate it from others
(ie. if it's the first character, or if several names have the same
start until that character).
So if you experience something like bug #724 *now* but never before,
you should probably reformat your disk, sorry!
