Hi all,
I think it would be nice to have a newsletter article covering debugging
of BeOS applications. This is to some extent not OS-specific, but there
are several aspects that are BeOS/OSBOS/Zeta-specific.
As the community seems to be growing again and new people starting to
code in BeOS, it would be very helpful to have such an article which
would help increase coding efficiency.
The article could also be put into /haiku/develop/resources.
I do not have a lot of experience in debugging, so
(1) I can't write that article :-(
(2) but I would benefit a lot of such an article :-)
However, the structure could look like that:
1) Not BeOS-specific: How to do debugging properly, i.e. beyond
printf/cout: using macros for switching debugging on and off,
several debug levels. Maybe a link to a nice tutorial would be enough if
you know one (or more).
2) How to use bdb efficiently?
(BTW: How do I use it with Tracker Add-Ons, as I can't start them via
the Debug menu entry in BeIDE? At least no ref can be passed that way
which makes it useless in this case.)
3) Usage of other BeOS applications that help in debugging (Clue, BeDC
etc.)
What do you think?
Greetings,
Finn
