Not quite correct. Those fixes were designed in particular to speed up the 
WonderBrush interface, because it updates a lot of views from a single 
BWindow::DispatchMessage(). The recent change which made WonderBrush crash 
the app_server was the enabling of custom cursors (by Axel). It crashes in my 
code though, and I have not yet looked into it...
