Sounds like a useful project. Not much to suggest, you seem
to have covered it all.
OK, one suggestion, perhaps allow add-ons that parse custom
items (new GUI things that we haven't thought up yet), though
it would be easier to just add them into the compiler's source
code. Unless the same add-on would also work with the GUI
resource editor, then it becomes useful. Even more if we get
an add-on that generates a bit of code for the programming
side of things (like the Windows resource editor and MFC
code generation). But then their resource editor just
generates code for their resource compiler, which is largely
separate (guess they have to update both of them when a new
control type is implemented).
