Sean Underwood who joined a few weeks ago, but as yet has been
unassigned to a project, has taken on the task of the FileTypes
preferences

Mattias who joined the team a while ago, but until recently has been
unassigned to a project has decided to take on the task of re-writing
StyledEdit.
Good luck to him.
Oliver Ruiz Dorantes has been working hard on two projects since
the last email went out, the first is a prototype preferences
application
that anyone is free to use to build upon for the preference panels. The
second is the Sound Preference Panel, which he has completed much of.
In a post to the openbeos-preferences mailing list Oliver states :
" I have developed a project named PreferencePrototype. It's a
simple main()->BAPP->BWIN->BVIEW awaiting to add the controls
and the events handlers. Just to avoid work to developers or to the
possible beginners. "
You can download this prototype, and check out how Oliver's work on
the Sound preference panel here :

|CVS Update
+=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D-----
Some of the applications that are included with Be, Inc's. BeOS R5 have
their source code available already.
Instead of re-writing these, we are just going to use these. Software
with included source should have now been checked into CVS and be
accessible, the software is :
Clock
CodyCam
Magnify
People
Pulse
Feel free to make modifications or improvements to these applications
from now on.

The team web site is coming along nicely thanks to a lot of work put in
by Phil Greenway. If you have any ideas or want to help with this
project,
contact him at :

A recent QNX article is an interesting read for programmers and
much of the information in here can be applied to a BeOS programming
environment, although I must say, this isn't written for BeOS
programmers.
