Theoretically, NVDA will always be a little less efficient in its use of
resources than JAWS, Window Eyes, etc. due to the fact that it is
written in Python, which is a high level language. Most other screen
readers are written in C++, which is somewhat less suitable for rapid
development but much more computationally efficient. However, in
practice, computers now are fast enough and have enough memory that this
extra overhead is negligible in most cases. Also, we very much emphasise
keeping the code as optimal as possible. Thus, although overall
execution is somewhat less efficient, NVDA actually copes better in some
situations. For example, if you hold down an arrow key in a consoel
window for several seconds, NVDA will not cause lag after the key is
released, even though some other screen readers do lag.
I also wish that there can be a simple installer to compile the NVDA
source into something unable where people don't have to install
anything?
Download the snapshot installers:

Note that you run these at your own risk.
I'd like to beta test, but I don't think there's a python
32bit version.
Many of us run Python under 32 bit operating systems.
