Identity Theft - The Police Notebook
http://www.ou.edu/oupd/idtheft6.htm#TABLE
"Identity theft" refers to crimes in which someone wrongfully obtains and
uses another person's personal data (i.e., name, date of birth, social
security number, driver's license number, and your financial identity?
credit card, bank account and phone-card numbers) in some way that involves
fraud or deception, typically for economic gain (to obtain money or
goods/services). Criminals also use identity theft to fraudulently obtain
identification cards, driver licenses, birth certificates, social security
numbers, travel visas and other official government papers.

they come fresh out of the oven, and stack them in the display counter.
Stack them in groups of three by frosting color and they'll disappear down
the customer's throats, earning you big tips. Winner of the first ever
RealOne Arcade Game Showdown, Digby's Donuts is a deliciously addictive (and

A Home User's Security Checklist for Windows
http://www.securityfocus.com/columnists/220
It's the aforementioned "A Home User's Security Checklist for Windows;" a
useful tool aimed mainly at those who are unfamiliar with security issues.
If you have less-experienced friends or colleagues who depend on you to help
them solve their PC problems, you could do them--- and yourself!--- a favor
by pointing them to that article.
If you're already up to speed about security there's not much there to
learn, but it's still good to have a lot of disparate security info
collected into one compact place.

Free Zone Labs Instant Messaging Security Software
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_ims.jsp
Zone Labs IMsecure® products keep conversations private and provide
protection to vulnerable IM connections.
There's safety in numbers?or is there? Instant messaging software is
installed on more than 275 million computers, but is it safe? The reality
is, IM software can open a Pandora's box of security threats on your
computer, including:
Privacy concerns such as identity theft, theft of confidential information
and interception of unencrypted messages.
Damage from hackers and viruses written specifically to exploit IM as a way
to sabotage your PC.
Productivity losses from spam and other unwanted communications.
Disregard of parental controls, ranging from the annoying?kids infecting
their parents' PC with infected downloads?to the tragic, such as children
being abducted by strangers they meet on IM systems.
Zone Labs understands that when it comes to IM, safety is of paramount
importance. Zone Labs IMsecure products, are the first comprehensive
security solutions that keep IM conversations private and protect PCs from
spammers, identity thieves, hackers and predators who exploit vulnerable IM
connections.
Equally important, the products are easy to use. They provide universal
protection, work seamlessly with AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and
MSN Messenger. They protect you regardless of the service or client you
use?even universal clients like Trillian.

Quicker Drop Downs
Let's say you're filling out an online registration form that asks for your
country. If you live in Australia, you're all set
since your country is towards the top. But what if you live here in the US?
You have to scroll through tons of countries (many of which you've never
heard of) to get to the entry for "United
States."
Well, here's a quicker way. When you get to the box, click the first letter
of the item you're hunting for. You'll find that
items beginning with that letter start popping up in the drop box.
So, when you get to the box, just hit the letter "U" until "United States"
comes up. No more scrolling!

Mikes Friday Tip ~ Deleting Files in Use
Sometimes we find out that we cannot delete files as Windows says they are
"in use".
This frequently happens with virus/trojans/spyware and browser hijackers.
Often we have to boot to Safe Mode to attempt to delete them.
To get to Safe Mode reboot and click the "F8" key intermitantly to bring up
the Safe Mode options.
In Windows 995\95 we had the option to go into DOS and delete files.
There is also a handy free utility availible;
GiPo@MoveOnBoot
http://www.gibinsoft.net/gipoutils/fileutil/
Copies, moves or deletes files and folders on the next system boot.
The utility is very useful when the user needs to replace or delete files
which are locked by other applications, loaded into the memory or just
cannot be changed until next system boot.
Look on the bottom of the page for the Older Software.

NEW BAGLE VARIANTS SPREAD WITHOUT EMAIL ATTACHMENT
http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/articles/bagletwist.html
Sophos has warned of a new twist in the Bagle virus saga.
Two new variants, W32/Bagle-Q and W32/Bagle-R, use a
different method of infection, spreading without an email
attachment, in an attempt to bypass anti-virus protection.

If you wish to unsubscribe from our list send an email to

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible viruses,
however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
Be sure to update yours regularly.
