People think Katrina hurt only the poor. The forget that refineries and other
industries were destroyed, meaning higher oil prices, which in addition to
everyone paying more for gasoline and heating oil, also means across the board
inflation. Salaries in the meantime are not going to go up. Also, disease
doesn't distinguish between rich and poor. They say bird flu and ebola are but
one plane ride away from London and NY. Whatever is breeding in those waters
is closer to home. Also, the gangs that have become so bad that New Orleans
cops are turning in their badges don't have good boundaries. The poor always
suffer the hardest, but with a disaster of this scale everyone is affected.
The standard of living was generally falling in this country. It got a big
boost downwards from Bush and the DHS. I'm watching Geraldo on Fox. He's
crying.
