Yes, Iraq was a wonderland before the ill-considered US invasion. Iraq was a wonderland when it invaded Kuwait. And Iraq was a wonderland earlier, when it was being aided by the US in its horrific war with Iran that killed millions of people.

Yes, Iraq was just swell, and we have turned it into something only slightly better than Detroit.

The author makes some good points, but the stench of propaganda is as vivid here as it was in Bush's speech.
