Julie: Why do the extreme hypothetical when it is most likely that that
is not the reality? Hyperbole was "is it worth attacking Iraq because
they could nuke us in 45 minutes?". A reasonable answer would have been
perhaps, "There's no way to quantify or determine that. Too many
unknowns."
Makes sense. On the other hand, though every event is statistically
independent of every other event, there's a Rosenkrantz and Gildenstern
part of me that wonders how many unknowns anyone would tolerate.
"Granted, countries or nonstate actors X(1) through X(250) could nuke us
in 45 minutes, but there's no way to quantify that. Too many unknowns."
