I'm back. We had a perfect record of 0-5 in five games. Although we
figuratively froze, we didn't literally.
David is right, I'm a loon. There were nigh on 500 loons with me. As
one opposing player said as we "warmed up" for one game, "one person
had a really dumb idea and 500 of us went along with it."
The whole time we were trekking back and forth from our car about 1
km along a frozen pond, into a 40 mph -30 C wind chill, only to have
to sit in a snow bank to put our skates on and then skate for 30
minutes in the same conditions, we were laughing and having a great
time. WE played five games in five different conditions, night, day,
snowing, not snowing, 2" snow on ice, clean ice, crippling chill,
fairly nice once we got skating. Again, it was all worth it and
everyone had fun times... oh except our one player who sprained his
ankle, falling down a hill on the way to our second game. Playing the
next few games without a substitute added insult to injury. Then
there was that flat tire I got, and....
ah, hell, what right do I have to complain.
I think we did it for a weird reason -- just to prove we could. Even
though as it was happening, we didn't think we could stick it out, we
did. So call us loons, that's what we are. We're hosers to the
extreme. Only Canadians would do such a silly thing, eh.
back to even chillier home,
p
