Bob, Aram,
I looked at their site. They are in business 10 years and have
had no accidents. The Hughes/MD 500's have one engine, but it's a turboshaft,
so it's much more reliable than a piston engine.
The small rotor diameter of the Hughes gives it a high rotational
speed, which means you have a lot of rotor energy to manage
descent in an autorotation. A guy who had a Hughes 269A told
me "you have time to look for a good place to park," perhaps a
slight exageration. They maintain to part 135, transport category.
That, along with being in day visual conditions, is about all you
can ask for to reduce risk.
