I have read that R8 and R9(?) were scratching film. I
don't know if they fixed it with the R9 or not. Here's a link to what I have read about it from the
Leica FAQ.

Update...

If it matters to anyone, I was visiting my local Leica
dealer and asked about the scratches I've been reading
about. I was told that they have not had ANY R8 or R9
returned for that reason and also was told that they
were not saying that as a sales pitch. I beleive them
and if there was a "REAL" problem with the scratching
I beleive we would have been hearing much more about
it and even from Leica.

Seems this "scratch problem" is old news at best....if it ever was an issue it was corrected quite a while back....

I first read about it years ago, looked into it...was satisfied that it had been addressed....

I never have had a problem with several R8's and an R 9.....and I have not heard about it in a long time as an issue from current users. Steve
