Chris,

I agree, I plan on having IT load it and get a license I can use from
another group in our division. I'll check it out for a while before going
to formal training. I think this way I could ask more intelligent
questions.

Yeah, I also haven't had formal training since I was with Tektronix and they
standardized on Cadence in 1995.

I think training is best taken after you've beat your head against the
monitor for a few weeks. Better to know what you couldn't figure out how to
do than just follow along in a demo environment. Then, the trainer is
either gold or... that other thing. 'Course I haven't had formal ECAD
training since Intergraph was a young upstart...

Hi Gary,

One thing I'll mention. Mentor training... I took BS training last May at
Mentor G in San Jose. The trainer was a contractor. He the THE TRAINING.
Didn't know application. I'm pretty sure, but don't quote me, that all
training is done with "training" contractors. I also, as I mentioned, took
the ExP training in Longmont. Wasn't worth the price my company paid, but
it gave me 5 days of hands-on tool training without the annoyance of other
design work going on. There's way too much stuff you will have to learn
once you start using the tool and designing your first board (such as
making a board outline for the first time!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA) So, good
luck, and keep smiling.

Good day.

Mitch
