Hullo!

Hi! :)

I may have an idea how to solve the problem that the frontpage is
quickly becoming overcrowded when it wants to be the ONE starting point
for everybody.

Think back to the times before Google: You visit a search engine like
Yahoo or Altavista and after waiting for the page to slowly build up,
you are confused by a myriad of sections, categories and links from
stock exchange to baby diapers.

Enter Google: A frontpage without clutter, loading almost instantly.

I propose doing the same for the Haiku website ... [snip]

The problem is that the main reason the website redevelopment (because this isn't just a redesign!) came about was because people continually expressed concern that it didn't LOOK like any progress was being made with Haiku.

Now, obviously there was, and is... the problem was that you were only likely to know this if you were subscribed to the mailing list. To the casual outsider, the website made the project seem, to be honest, stalled.

I, personally think we're onto something with Koki's mockup and Petter's design. It manages to convey the progress of the project, while at the same time highlighting out current target, developers!

What we want to focus on now, IMHO, is perfecting this design and applying it to Drupal! We've had a lot of positive feedback on it, from the developers and the community. The few issues that were brought up were minor at best!

None the less, thanks for your suggestion. :)
