Hi Simon,

On 8/2/06, Simon Kennedy <stonewolfsoft@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
I've just posted a message to the web site forum about the current logo
on the wiki / the logo in svn, but I'm not sure that the forum was the
right place to post.

Currently we have the following places to post questions

1. The Website forum.
2. The Wiki discussion page.
3. This mailing list.

Do we need all of these?

Yes, this is a bad situation and our new website will change this. We will only have forums for end-users and support questions (the team forums will be deleted). Mailing lists will be the primary communication form. The wiki will probably go away.

Do people actually read all of them?

No, if you want to reach the Haiku team you should use the mailing lists. Sometimes I watch for new forum topics, but most of the time I don't because there is too much nonsense and I'm too lazy to constantly check for new messages.

Should I post the same question to all places?

The mailing list should do. Although some potential web developers will probably only watch the forums... :(

Can they be merged in some way?

I would like to use Google Groups which offers a forum-like interface, but at the same time it can behave like a mailing list. Unfortunately, the project admins voted against switching to Google Groups. It is possible to at least use Google Groups as an archive, so I will probably setup a group for those who prefer forum-style communication: http://groups.google.com/group/Haiku-WebsiteProject Maybe that group can even replace our current mailing list. But please don't use that group, for now. It's not official yet and I haven't setup the connection between this list and the group.

Bye,
Waldemar Kornewald
