Thomas, check out our team page
(http://haiku-os.org/about/teams/documentation) for a getting started
guide. I suggest you do a Phase II review of one of the support kit
files for a starter (see
http://dev.haiku-os.org/wiki/ApiDocumentationStatus for an explanation
of the phases and the process).

In short:
1. Get a local copy of the documents from SVN
2. Make sure you can compile the docs.
3. Get started!
