[dokuwiki] How to explicitly set SMTP Server?

I'm just getting started with DokuWiki, and have installed it
(dokuwiki-2005-9-22) on a shared Windows 2003 host. Though I've
specified the mail "from" address in conf/local.php, I believe that in
my hosting environment I need to be able to specify the SMTP server to
be used as well.
Is this possible, even if it has to be hard-coded into inc/mail.php? As
I know very little about PHP, would someone be able to give me the exact
syntax of the code required?
