[dokuwiki] Problems when adding an email address to the wiki pages - scrambled output.

Hi,
As you can see over at
http://blogs.homelinux.org/docs/doku.php/wiki/playground
whenever we add a mail address to the wiki it gets transformed to
some html/hex (?) encoded string.

We experienced this problem on two servers (Suse Linux 9 and Ubuntu) and
saw the same problems on some other sites out there.
But we were unable to find anything about it on the internet or in the
mailling list archive.
What might be causing this?
