 I realise that stuff will be broken, because any absolute references
will be broken (pages or media), and people will have to fix them up
after the move, but I don't want to lose the history and stuff.

 I don't think I can get away with that, sadly -- I've had complaints
from users about losing the history of pages after the gzipped-attic
-vs- non-gzipped attic confusion I hit a while back.
