I just noticed that the RSS 1.0 spec has example authors of the form:
<dc:creator>John Smith (mailto:jsmith@xxxxxxx)</dc:creator>
For completeness, here's the RSS 2.0:
<author>jsmith@xxxxxxx (John Smith)</author>
And the atom:
<author>
<name>John Smith</name>
<email>jsmith@xxxxxxx</email>
</author>
