[dokuwiki] xhtml+xml rendering options

As previously mentioned, I am arranging that dokuwiki sends xhtml+xml
typed pages so that I can include mathml. I understand that there are
some complications in doing this by default, but dokuwiki really does
quite well with it. I don't think I have had a single markup related
problem except when using <html>...</html> blocks in the wikitext that
I screw up myself. Is it possible to include some options for this in
the stock code? An addition default template with the proper changes
would be sufficient, e.g. tpl/default-xml. An option in the
configuration setting would be even better, (send pages as xhtml+xml
(.)).
It is easy enough to do after the fact, but annoying to have to do
repeatedly every time I upgrade.
Thanks,
Mike Schacht
