[dokuwiki] plugins: provide a syntax wiki page

Hello,

While most plugins have a relatively simple syntax, many times it is uncertain what plugins are available on a particular wiki, and even then one must go search externally from the current wiki for the syntax of the plugin before using it.

I'd like to propose that plugins could be distributed with a simple syntax wiki page.

Then perhaps the plugin manager would be updated to copy that syntax wiki page to a configured name space. (eg. :wiki:syntax: ) Or perhaps the syntax pages could be mapped/read from within the plugin folders and compiled to a single read-only syntax page or some sort "?do=syntax". I'm sure there could be various implementation methods, but the point is simply to provide an automatic way to display the available markup available for a specific wiki instance.

Has there been any discussion/attempts at this in the past (I didn't find any)? Anyone have an idea on an implementation method?

A good start would be if it just became common practice for plugins to include a dokuwiki markup page named "syntax.txt" in the archive.

chris
