[dokuwiki] Mixed / chained authentication (LDAP + plain)

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to set up a mixed / chained
authentication system for dokuwiki.

At our university we use an Oracle single sign-on server for campus
wide authentication. I could probably hook it up with dokuwiki using
LDAP. But, there's one problem with this setup: I cannot create
accounts for guests who don't work or study at this university in this
way.

An ideal solution would be if there's a way to chain 2 authenticators,
namely ldap and plain. The system would first check if there's a user
with the user name specified in the LDAP, if no user is found in the
LDAP, it would check the plain authentication back end instead.

Sakai (an online Collaboration and Learning Environment we are running
a pilot with at the moment) supports such a setup as well.

Is there anyone with such a setup or another solution to this problem?

Regards,
Dennis
