I would go with Galen's question, since I have centos 4.2 with similar
packages (the important ones are the same):

httpd-2.0.52-19.ent.centos4
system-config-httpd-1.3.1-1
httpd-devel-2.0.52-19.ent.centos4
php-ldap-4.3.9-3.9
php-pear-4.3.9-3.9
php-pgsql-4.3.9-3.9
php-snmp-4.3.9-3.9
php-4.3.9-3.9
httpd-manual-2.0.52-19.ent.centos4
httpd-suexec-2.0.52-19.ent.centos4
php-mysql-4.3.9-3.9

on my laptop and dokuwiki is working flawlessly...

disable selinux or look in /var/log/messages and fix the policy or tag the
filesystem as required should do the trick.

We upgraded our server, which was Debian, to CentOS (equivalent to
rhel4). After migrating dokuwiki I find out login sessions fail to
remain persistent when moving between pages. Also, images are not
displaying.

I've been searching for days on this issue. I even setup another Debian
machine and provide my setup is good. It's something with Redhat's
setup. Apache2 and PHP configs are not identical, but fairly similar.

If anyone can help I'd be grateful.

Below is our package information.
