As I understand it, the 'italic' option simply scans the list of
family members in the font and chooses the first one that is 'italic'
(or Oblique). In an alphabetic list, such as the filer and OPro uses
for fonts, Homerton Condensed Bold Oblique comes before Homerton
Oblique, so it chooses that one first.
I have this problem with many other font families, and it is a real
pain! Same happens with 'bold', of course. The 'I' and 'B' options are
so unreliable I don't use them now.
Interestingly, I don't have any 'condensed' versions of Homerton -
just bold and normal!
